makes me wonder what ever happened to my old bakelite Kodak. Very evocative poem. I'm glad you've got comments enabled now. I've loved your past poems too.
I like seeing the "Brownie" moments as I recall the homemade ice cream we had from a hand-turned churn. I still own the Brownie which my daddy bought me when I was 12 years of age.
I love how we can stumble upon something hidden away and have the sight of it release crystal clear memories, if only for an instant...your poem expressed that feeling wonderfully.
Coming across such memories takes me back the same way your poem did. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI use to think "the brownies" was a camera club! Good one.
ReplyDeleteThe textures in the poem are wonderful. I can imagine the rest of the summer with the pale child growing tan.
ReplyDeleteI remembered a scenes like this long ago at the state fair. How sweet!
