hovering

the room is turned twice;
or's there a half turn also?
such a poor liar

One Single Impression: Prompt 51: Spectral

~ for me spectral conjured a childhood game ~ imagining floating up in the air from bed ~ then spinning the room ~ but with a child's twist of playful self-delusion ~ so that there would be a double shock on peeking !¡! ~

  1. There's definitely a link to childhood in this prompt for me too. You poem conjures up the spectral image.

  2. I can see this. It made me smile. I used to play a similar game when sick in bed. Nice spin on the prompt!

  3. Kitehorse--
    Loved the spinning of the universe by the child's mind--and I'm assuming that you never got to be a better liar, as you're still spinning our universes...difference is, we believe you!

  8. I remember similar games when I was a child. The mind played tricks on my all the time--and I was always willing to be fooled!

  10. Phew, but it's frightening when it really happens!

  11. Mind tricks played by liars, not just children. Lies the twist reality, twice but not quite good enough to totally turn the room on its head! I enjoyed the game of the little not quite lie of this haiku. Thank you.

  17. Poor things, just imagining this! I am sure they have had the real thing by spinning themselves dizzy. Aren't children creative!
    Your poem reminded me of Adi, my beagle dog. She lays on her back in the grass (or sand if we are in a nicer place) and squirms for minutes. Then she gets up and I swear she has no idea of where she is. She looks around like someone waking up from a stupor.
