the room is turned twice;
or's there a half turn also?
such a poor liar
One Single Impression: Prompt 51: Spectral
~ for me spectral conjured a childhood game ~ imagining floating up in the air from bed ~ then spinning the room ~ but with a child's twist of playful self-delusion ~ so that there would be a double shock on peeking !¡! ~
There's definitely a link to childhood in this prompt for me too. You poem conjures up the spectral image.
ReplyDeleteI can see this. It made me smile. I used to play a similar game when sick in bed. Nice spin on the prompt!
ReplyDeleteKitehorse--
ReplyDeleteLoved the spinning of the universe by the child's mind--and I'm assuming that you never got to be a better liar, as you're still spinning our universes...difference is, we believe you!
intriguing take, a memory like that sometimes feels fuzzy even if you remember it so clearly
ReplyDelete..insightful(with a capital i)..many thanks..
ReplyDeleterefreshing tidbits to nibble on ...
ReplyDeleteThis was very imaginative. I liked it.
ReplyDeleteI remember similar games when I was a child. The mind played tricks on my all the time--and I was always willing to be fooled!
ReplyDeleteMind tricks played by children. . . this is very well done.
ReplyDeletePhew, but it's frightening when it really happens!
ReplyDeleteMind tricks played by liars, not just children. Lies the twist reality, twice but not quite good enough to totally turn the room on its head! I enjoyed the game of the little not quite lie of this haiku. Thank you.

ReplyDeletelovely!
ReplyDeleteoh, this is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI play that game too...still! ;)
A good one!
ReplyDeleteI can definitely sense a childs' playful mind in these words...I enjoyed this!
ReplyDeleteAh, the child's game - wonderfully well shown!
ReplyDeleteI like your 'spin' on spectral! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteNicely written-I love remembering childhood games and tricks even if they are a bit fuzzy.
ReplyDeleteMade me feel dreamy, thanks.
ReplyDeletePoor things, just imagining this! I am sure they have had the real thing by spinning themselves dizzy. Aren't children creative!
ReplyDeleteYour poem reminded me of Adi, my beagle dog. She lays on her back in the grass (or sand if we are in a nicer place) and squirms for minutes. Then she gets up and I swear she has no idea of where she is. She looks around like someone waking up from a stupor.
..
Delightful! I still do this and peek. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an imagination! So good to see you still have it!
