try and write this way:
all words (not names) with one sound.
at times, less is less.
One Single Impression: prompt 60 - One Word
The book "Robinson Crusoe in Words of One Syllable", started my game of writing this way (excepting proper names). The goal of these One Syllable titles was "[books] adapted to the use of the
youngest readers". But in practice, these books are tough going for children. It makes a nice word game, especially if you add the rule that the result must read naturally.
Plain to see...in simple terms.
ReplyDeleteI like it!
I think this would be quite a challenge for a writer. Good idea, though.
ReplyDeleteThis is hard to do. I like the way you've said 'less is less' not less is more. It's true.;)
ReplyDeleteInteresting and hard to do. I love playing with words. Thanks for sharing this. G
ReplyDeleteLess words may be better..but not plain..just simple?
ReplyDeleteMuch of our reality cannot be expressed in one sound our syllable. This editing can be tricky!
ReplyDeleteInteresting, and I will give it a try.
ReplyDeletefrustration is apparent in your words & yet it reads so well...something new for me to try~~ thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I had something pithy to say (one sound per word) but my daughter has just smothered me with goodnight kisses, leaving me speechless.
ReplyDeleteNice post - it lends itself to a new thought process...
ReplyDeletereduction. it's not easy to make a good sauce.
ReplyDeleteBut syllables are not necessarily one sound and can hold whole world inside their feeble clutch.
ReplyDeleteGood challenge- nicely done!
ReplyDeleteKitehorse--
ReplyDeleteStructuring our thoughts so they are simple and direct, and still leave room for play...and then finding words for them is an art form that you are mastering. I honor your work!
Many thanks--
