50p. gets you a fresh doughnut, a coffee a quiet moment Haiku Bones word for the week is "fleeting". And my morning breakfast at the bar parlor of the Dalesman is such a fleeting respite. Don't know what I'd do without it :-)
I love the little restaurants and diners which offer breakfast specials. Invariably it is 1 (one) egg, 1 (one) toast, 1 (one) thin ham slice, and 1 (one) coffee for $1.99 (about £1.20) - but my favorite part are the angry, ad hoc signs which say "NO SUBSTITUTIONS".
Where, at the soup kitchen? LOL! Last time I was in Edinburgh 1.50 bought one (non-refillable) cup of coffee. Things must be cheaper in Yorkshire.
ReplyDeleteAll joshing aside, I love your idea of buying a quiet moment - beautiful!
Wonderful take on fleeting - those perfect moments!
