Sour Grapes

Haiku Bones #3: regret

Funny how even animals will apparently show disappointment with seemingly odd behaviour. They do say that laughter is an interrupted defense mechanism...

Hot Inner Tube!

Grin, bicycle soul!
Deliberately hit leaves!
Warm asphalt swishes!

WANDERLUST
#96 meme

Thinking of summer rides on my balloon-tire bicycle is happiness alright.

Tramp A-Sea

eager lucid cool,
cooks grumbling, ocean mewling,
tramp steamer travel!

One Single Impression wanderlust

This prompt got my travel planning stoked. Nothing like a tiny commercial steamer out of Liverpool kitted out with a few first-class cabins. Such congenial people you meet on this eccentric mode of travel. Dress for dinner, yes, but posh snobbery, no!

Wandernot

Wash out the nightmare,
Traipses of fluttering hell.
Lukewarm hotel tea.

One Single Impression wanderlust

"Wanderlust doth not have a hold of my puny vitals, for its terrors consume me." - Southwald

Jag

Cows wander grumbling.
Pure, kindhearted, sagging clouds.
Rippling, slowly, pale.

Haiku Bones prompt: regret

No, I am not a vegetarian, and even that is killing complex living systems - but I do regret the innate cruelty of the "circle of life" sometimes.

Afield

For Haiku Bones

They say that hog teeth are the closest to humans in the animal world. What princely animals.

Inspired by One Single Impression word junction

He
re in my small yard I peer out my unwashed kitchen window and witness the grand junction of trees and sky, animals disturbing each other, or are they passing the news? and the hope of a clean new beginning.

Interface

Road, land, trees, clouds, sky
Ruts pass through withered grass tops
It can not see it

Thanks to Jeeves who posted "junction" as the prompt at One Single Impression

Goner

Orb of dry Swiss Miss powder
Inexplicably hovering on the thin liquid
POP! obey the law

The prompt word over at Haiku Bones is fleeting

Love the way this happens sometimes, a tiny bleb of dry powder skitters along in the mug, pushing aside whorls of steam like a tiny buoy in a fog. And then it's gone.

Brekky

50p. gets you
a fresh doughnut, a coffee
a quiet moment

Haiku Bones word for the week
is "fleeting". And my morning breakfast at the bar parlor of the Dalesman is such a fleeting respite. Don't know what I'd do without it :-)

Glimpse

Dapple in Denmark;
Not one who's easy to hide !
Now I'll eat my hat ?

These magical glimpses of figure-ground illusion are so frequent and fleeting - which happens to be the Haiku Bones Prompt!!

Twins

Yeah I see it too.
A second shadowy moon!
Oh, it's just a cloud.

fleeting is the prompt for the week at Haiku Bones and junction at OSI. This haiku Twins works for both I think.

Seeing things wrongly, even if just for an instant is a great visual pleasure isn't it?

Creation

bubbles in bubbles
falling free universes
When did you snap this?

Dan Brown

What's The Lost Symbol?
Circumpunct's Symbol's symbol.
Just like Haddock's Eyes...

A pal lent me a nice fresh hardcover copy of Mister Da Vinci Code's latest thriller - a sort of lower-middle-brow Umberto Ecco book. I carefully removed the unspotted dust-jacket to the top of my TV armoire. Then I slipped a brown paper cover on. No, not to hide my shame, but to keep the book spotless and for a place to jot notes. Oh yes, the real symbol is revealed on the last page, and in turn it is a symbol for yet another symbol. Nice. I am going back to reread the White Knight's story in Alice, as referenced in the haiku ^__^

My happy gun

It haunts me sporadically
That single shot derringer cap pistol
Lost with childhood

Haiku Bones prompt 1: wistful

Billiards

Chimney glass dimmed with soot
Creaking tittering as the mantle shivers
Primeval atoms yearn for flight

Haiku Bones prompt 1: wistful

I love the idea of ancient trapped molecules in kerosene - created by the ur-Sun stabbing into ancient oceans and plants. Then bouncing around in a kerosene lamp flame, liberated and giving light on a windy coastal night.

fathomless

Club of Rome bigots;
Cling joyously to our doom:
Malthus is still dead

One Single Impression: Prompt 76: Ocean

I'd say we've got oceans of breathing room:

Deliver to me, dripping wet on the mat, the 100 billion humans who have ever lived in the last 50,000 years.

And now weigh up all the dinosaurs which ever lived over a quarter billion years (that's 5,000 times longer by the way).

Hyperspectral

It must've been Mies?
Nah, it's more Philip Johnson:
Mondrian x Pei

One Single Impression: Prompt 75: Windows

It's a mysterious 50 foot tower behind St. Mary's 06830. 1960-ish. Brown brick dead walls North and South. And between, vertiginous titanium girders with glass sheets like a Brobdingnagian collection of saturated theater gels.

plain

try and write this way:
all words (not names) with one sound.
at times, less is less.

One Single Impression: prompt 60 - One Word

The book "Robinson Crusoe in Words of One Syllable", started my game of writing this way (excepting proper names). The goal of these One Syllable titles was "[books] adapted to the use of the
youngest readers". But in practice, these books are tough going for children. It makes a nice word game, especially if you add the rule that the result must read naturally.

One Single Impression: Prompt 51: Spectral
